Cambodia Advances Green Tourism Development in Eco-Tourism Communities
Cambodia held a joint meeting of three ministries to discuss the development of green tourism destinations within eco-tourism communities in Kampong Speu and Koh Kong provinces. This initiative aims to boost the local economy and promote sustainable natural resource protection.
A meeting was held to discuss the development of green tourism destinations within eco-tourism communities in Kampong Speu and Koh Kong provinces. The meeting took place at the Ministry of Environment on the morning of Tuesday, September 8, 2026, and was led by the ministers of three ministries: the Ministry of Rural Development, the Ministry of Tourism, and the Ministry of Environment. Eco-tourism communities are highlighted as attractive green tourism destinations, featuring forest landscapes, biodiversity, wildlife, waterfalls, and indigenous cultures. These areas have high potential to be connected as a green tourism corridor within the Cardamom Mountains landscape region, spanning Kampong Speu and Koh Kong provinces. Expanding these potentials can contribute to improving the livelihoods of local communities and promote participation in the sustainable protection and conservation of natural resources. This effort aligns with the Environmental Sector Strategy 2023-2028 and contributes to achieving the goals of the first phase of the "Diamond Strategy" of the Government of the 7th Legislature of the National Assembly, under the wise leadership of Prime Minister Hun Manet.
