The arrested men face charges of conspiring to export goods without customs clearance and illegally exporting protected and controlled wildlife. Police also confiscated three suitcases and a white Mazda 3 with Udon Thani license plates as evidence. Investigators believe the group used the house to store and pack wildlife before shipment overseas. The investigation began in May after an airline alerted police about luggage returned from a flight bound for India, which reportedly contained live wild animals and carcasses. Investigators identified an international trafficking operation, with suspects holding different roles, including coordinating with customers, obtaining requested animals, and arranging shipments. Subsequently, investigators observed a member of the group, identified as an Indian national named Thameem, receiving suitcases at a hotel. Thameem transported these suitcases to Suvarnabhumi Airport, where he was apprehended by officers before the bags could be loaded onto an outbound flight. The suitcases contained one gibbon, two langurs, six tegu lizards, and five blue-tongued skinks. This arrest led authorities to identify other individuals connected to the network, prompting the Central Tax Court to issue warrants for the four suspects arrested at the Bang Khunthian property. Pol Maj Gen Anek Taosuparp, commander of the Natural Resources and Environmental Crime Division, stated that all four men confessed during questioning. Authorities have transferred them to division investigators for further legal action and are continuing to search for other individuals linked to the wildlife trafficking operation. The seized animals have been placed under the care of relevant authorities.
