Koh Kong Deputy Governor: Community Cleanliness Starts with Individual Responsibility

Koh Kong Deputy Governor On Sotharith stated that community cleanliness stems from individual responsibility, strongly urging citizens to stop littering in public places. "Let us all start by taking action ourselves, beginning with cleaning our homes, villages, communes, workplaces, and public areas, because the cleanliness of the nation starts with the cleanliness and responsibility of each individual," he emphasized. This was stated during the 'Clean Cambodia, Khmer Can Do' campaign held on the afternoon of July 27, 2026, in front of the New Village Market in Pak Khlong village, Mondul Seima district. The Deputy Governor also called on all relevant authorities at every level, ministries, government institutions, the private sector, educational institutions, monks, and all citizens to continue cooperating more actively to make this campaign a vibrant and sustainable social movement. According to On Sotharith, in addition to properly managing and disposing of waste, it is important to participate in reducing the use of plastic bags, planting trees, and maintaining and expanding green areas within the community. This will ensure a consistently clean environment in homes, schools, workplaces, and public areas, leading to a comfortable living environment and promoting tourism, as a beautiful and clean environment attracts tourists. Cleanliness is a strong foundation for well-being, quality of life, and is a crucial factor in promoting tourism, investment, and sustainable development. A country with a clean environment, order, and disciplined citizens will always build high confidence and attractiveness for tourists and investors. Currently, the Koh Kong Provincial Administration is actively focusing on strengthening solid waste management, organizing urban areas in an orderly manner, planting trees, increasing green cover, and educating and disseminating information about the environment, with the active participation of all ministries, local authorities, educational institutions, the private sector, and all citizens.
