West Java Chamber of Commerce Leadership Dispute Enters Final Legal Phase

The leadership dispute within the West Java Chamber of Commerce (Kadin Jawa Barat) has entered its final phase of trial at the South Jakarta District Court. The plaintiff has submitted eight additional pieces of evidence to strengthen their lawsuit concerning the inauguration of Almer Faiq Rusydi as the Chairman of Kadin West Java for the 2025-2030 period. Roy Sianipar, the plaintiff's lawyer, stated that the additional evidence was presented during a trial led by Judge Eman Sulaeman on Tuesday, September 22, 2026. The lawsuit was filed by the management of the Garut and Indramayu Regency Chambers of Commerce. "Previously, we had submitted 44 pieces of evidence, totaling 500 pages. With this addition, it now amounts to 600 pages. We hope our client's lawsuit will be granted by the panel of judges," Roy said after the trial. He expressed optimism, assessing that the testimonies of fact witnesses and expert witnesses during the trial have reinforced the argument that there were violations of the organization's rules during Almer's inauguration. According to Roy, constitutional law expert Eki Sirojul Baehaqi had previously questioned the issuance of Decree Number 198, which served as the basis for ratifying Almer as the Chairman of the West Java Chamber of Commerce. The plaintiffs contend that the issuance of this decree did not adhere to the principles of openness and contradicted Kadin's Articles of Association (AD/ART). "In fact, Kadin's constitution is AD/ART. A decree must be socialized," Roy emphasized. The dispute originated from the holding of two Provincial Consultative Meetings (Muprov) VIII of the West Java Chamber of Commerce on September 24, 2025. The Muprov held in Bandung resulted in Nizar Sungkar being chosen as chairman, while the Muprov in Bogor selected Almer Faiq Rusydi. The plaintiffs consider the Bogor Muprov to be inconsistent with the AD/ART. They also question the decision of the Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), Anindya Bakrie, to appoint Almer in Cirebon on November 27, 2025, while the leadership dispute remained unresolved. Roy mentioned that the central Kadin had previously promised a meeting between Almer and Nizar to resolve the dual leadership issue. The lawsuit, registered under number 1356/Pdt.G/2025/PN JKT.SEL, was filed by Rajab Priljadi, Chairman of the Garut Regency Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Mulyadi Cahya, Chairman of the Indramayu Regency Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Defendants include Anindya Bakrie, as well as Kadin managers Taufan Eko Nugroho, Widiyanto Daputro, and Erwin Aksa. During Tuesday's trial, the defendants' lawyers also submitted additional evidence. However, Roy noted that the defendants did not present any witnesses despite having the opportunity, which he believes benefits the plaintiff's position. Nevertheless, the assessment of all evidence and witness testimonies rests with the panel of judges. The next trial is scheduled to be conducted via the electronic court system (e-Court) on October 13, 2026, with the agenda of delivering the parties' conclusions.
