Cambodian Red Cross Distributes Humanitarian Aid to Needy Families

The Cambodian Red Cross, Preah Net Preah District Branch, as part of its humanitarian mission, visited and distributed aid to six impoverished families residing in Sramoch village, Preah Net Preah commune, Preah Net Preah district, on Wednesday, July 22, 2026. Led by Mr. Heun Vira, the District Governor and Chairman of the Cambodian Red Cross Preah Net Preah District Branch, the delegation included members of the district sub-branch committee, commune Red Cross teams, and volunteers. Mr. Heun Vira conveyed profound greetings and concern from Samdech Kittipreah Bun Rany Hun Sen, President of the Cambodian Red Cross, as well as from Mr. Keo Bunyeung, Honorary President of the District Sub-branch, HE Dit Tina, Honorary Branch President, and HE Um Ratry, Chairman of the Banteay Meanchey Provincial Red Cross Committee. Mr. Heun Vira emphasized that the Cambodian Red Cross President consistently pays utmost attention to the well-being and living conditions of all citizens, regardless of their political affiliation or social status, in line with the motto, "Where there is suffering, there is the Cambodian Red Cross, and the Cambodian Red Cross is everywhere for all of us." The humanitarian aid provided to each of the six needy families included 30 kilograms of rice, 8 packs of instant noodles, 3 bottles of soy sauce, 3 bottles of fish sauce, and 1 crate of mineral water, aimed at alleviating their immediate hardships. In addition to the aid distribution, Mr. Heun Vira urged residents to heighten their vigilance regarding safety during the rainy season, which is prone to heavy rain and strong winds. He advised them to reinforce their homes and ensure electrical systems and cooking areas are properly maintained to prevent fires or other accidents that could lead to property damage and impact family economies. Concerning health and hygiene, he reminded citizens to adhere to Ministry of Health guidelines, emphasizing the principles of "low fat, low salt, low sugar," regular exercise, consuming well-cooked food, maintaining environmental hygiene around their homes, and sleeping under mosquito nets to prevent diseases like dengue fever. He stressed the importance of seeking prompt medical examination and treatment at the nearest health center or referral hospital in case of health issues. Source: AKP Khmer
