Haiphong Residents Safe as 300kg Bomb Removed from Neighborhood

A 300kg bomb, believed to be a remnant from past conflicts, was safely removed from a construction site in Hai Phong city center on September 4th. Military engineers successfully retrieved the explosive, measuring approximately 1.2 meters in length and 35 cm in diameter, from a depth of about 4 meters. The object was discovered on September 3rd by construction workers excavating foundation for a new building at 96 Cau Dat Street in Le Chan District. Following an inspection by the Hai Phong City Military Command, it was identified as a bomb, prompting immediate plans for its removal and disposal. To ensure public safety during the operation, an 800-meter stretch of Cau Dat Street, a bustling commercial area in the city center, was temporarily closed off. Traffic was rerouted from Hai Ba Trung Intersection to Nguyen Duc Canh Intersection. Hai Phong was a significant target for US air and naval forces during the Vietnam War, particularly in 1972.
