Tree falls on light truck in Mandalay, man injured in lower body

A tree fell on a light truck in Mandalay City's Chanayethazan Township, trapping a man inside the vehicle and causing him to sustain injuries to his lower body. The incident occurred around 9 AM on September 9, according to reports. It was reported that while U Zarni Aung was parking his white light truck between 34th and 85th, 86th streets in the West Ward of Aung Nan Ye Thar, Chanayethazan Township, a Kukuyan tree, approximately 9 feet in circumference and 40 feet in height, fell from its roots onto the roof of the vehicle. Due to the tree falling on the vehicle, driver U Zarni Aung sustained injuries including a fracture in his right shin bone, a fracture in his left thigh, and bruising to his waist, which were reported as not life-threatening. Firefighters from the State Fire Services Department, along with social rescue teams, assisted in rescue operations at the scene. The driver, who was trapped inside the vehicle, was successfully rescued at 10:25 AM and has been transported to Mandalay General Hospital for necessary medical treatment. Heavy rains also fell in Mandalay City on the night of September 8, causing the Kukuyan tree to fall. It is understood that the tree was old, its roots were weak, and it fell due to its large size and root system.
