Cambodia's PM Hun Manet Emphasizes Quality Improvement in Education and Vocational Training

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet stated on the morning of August 6, 2026, that within the framework of human capital development, the Cambodian government is promoting the quality of education and vocational training, as well as the development of both hard and soft skills. Speaking at the graduation ceremony for students of the Royal Academy of Law and Economics and the inauguration of a 6-story academic building and other achievements, the Prime Minister emphasized that the government is also considering the adaptation of the workforce to better respond to changes in the economic structure, labor market demands, and digital technology. This includes skill transformation, enhancement, and the promotion of public health. The Prime Minister stated, "Within the human capital development framework, the government is promoting the quality of education and vocational training, the development of skills, both hard and soft, and the adaptation of the workforce to better respond to changes in the economic structure, labor market demands, and digital technology through skill transformation, enhancement, and the promotion of public health." Furthermore, the government is also improving working conditions in both the public and private sectors through institutional reform, governance, the promotion of meritocracy, and the adjustment of incentive systems. In parallel, Prime Minister Hun Manet recommended continuing to promote digital education in the context of Industry 4.0 by improving digital platforms, establishing digital education centers, producing instructional videos for core subjects and examination classes, integrating digital technology into learning and teaching, developing digital infrastructure in schools, and creating digital education programs to respond to labor market demands and national economic and social development, technological transformation, and global structural changes. Prime Minister Hun Manet also instructed to continue paying high attention to human capital development to better respond to the increasing competition in the labor market, as well as social and economic development, especially in the context of competition in all aspects, including geopolitics, economy, and commerce, as well as the rapid growth of technology, the development of socio-economic sectors leaning towards the use of technology, and global structural changes. The primary objective is to enhance resilience and build a robust digital economy and society.
