Cambodia and Philippines Boost Cooperation on ASEAN Observer Mission Effectiveness

Cambodia and the Philippines have agreed to strengthen their cooperation to enhance the effectiveness of the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT). On the morning of September 15, 2026, General Vong Pisen, Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces, welcomed the visit of Brigadier General Antero S. Nacis, Deputy Inspector General of the Armed Forces of the Philippines. This visit aims to further strengthen the friendly relations and cooperation between the armed forces of the two countries. General Vong Pisen expressed his gratitude to the Government and the Ministry of National Defense of the Philippines for assigning AOT personnel to be Cambodia to help verify and monitor the implementation of ceasefire agreements more effectively. He also briefed Brigadier General Nacis on the actual situation along the Cambodia-Thailand border so that the delegation could understand the reality on the ground. Following the briefing and understanding of the actual situation, Brigadier General Antero S. Nacis affirmed the continuation of the ASEAN Observer Team's work and pledged to further strengthen the effectiveness of the AOT's mission to contribute to reducing tensions and ensuring the effective implementation of ceasefire agreements.
