Vietnam Braces for Reduced Rainfall in North After Heavy Downpours

Northern Vietnam is expected to see gradually decreasing rainfall and thunderstorms on August 7, after a morning of heavy downpours. According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, northern regions, along with Thanh Hoa and Nghe An provinces, have experienced moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms, with some areas potentially seeing very heavy rainfall. However, the intensity of the rain is forecast to diminish from the early afternoon. In the central region, areas from Ha Tinh to Hue City and along the South Central Coast will experience scattered showers and thunderstorms. The Central Highlands and southern regions will also see scattered rain and thunderstorms, with some localized heavy rain possible in the late afternoon or evening. These areas should be alert for potential thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, hail, and strong gusts of wind. At sea, the Gulf of Tonkin will experience west to southwest winds at level 5, occasionally reaching level 6, with gusts up to level 7-8, leading to rough seas and waves between 1.5 to 2.5 meters. The central East Sea and the sea areas from Gia Lai to Lam Dong, as well as the northern part of the southern East Sea (including the northern Spratly Islands), will face southwest winds at level 6, with gusts up to level 8. The sea will be rough, with waves ranging from 1.5 to 2.5 meters, and in the central East Sea, waves could reach 2 to 4 meters. In Hanoi, the capital city will be cloudy with moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms overnight and in the morning, followed by lighter rain. Temperatures will range from a low of 25-27°C to a high of 31-33°C. The Northwest region will be cloudy with moderate to heavy rain, and very heavy rain in some places, overnight and in the morning, before decreasing. Temperatures will be between 22-26°C and 28-31°C. The Northeast region will also experience moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms overnight and in the morning, with some very heavy rainfall, before tapering off. Lows will be 23-26°C and highs 30-33°C. Thanh Hoa to Hue will be cloudy, with the northern part (Thanh Hoa to Nghe An) experiencing moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms, and very heavy rain in some spots, overnight and in the morning, before decreasing. The southern part will see scattered showers and thunderstorms in the late afternoon and evening. Temperatures will range from 24-27°C to 30-33°C. The South Central Coast will be cloudy with scattered showers and thunderstorms. Lows will be 25-28°C and highs 31-34°C. The Central Highlands will be cloudy with scattered showers and thunderstorms. Lows will be 20-23°C and highs 27-30°C. Southern Vietnam will be cloudy with scattered showers and thunderstorms. Lows will be 24-27°C and highs 30-33°C. Ho Chi Minh City will be cloudy with scattered showers and thunderstorms. Lows will be 25-27°C and highs 31-34°C. This week, both the southern and northern parts of Vietnam are forecast to experience heavy rainfall, while central regions will see sunny days with thunderstorms in the late afternoons.
