Owner couple of "Pyue Wa" grocery store in Dala Township killed, former employee suspected of premeditated murder after being denied loan

Yangon, June 30 Residents of Razainkan Ward told Yangon Khit Thit Media that an investigation has revealed that a former employee allegedly planned and carried out the murder of the owner couple of the "Pyue Wa" grocery store in Razainkan Ward, Dala Township, Yangon Region, after being denied a loan. The incident occurred on the night of June 25, when U Aung Kyaw Kyaw and his wife Daw Nwe Nwe Htun, owners of the Pyue Wa grocery store, were found murdered in their home at No. 290, Oak Laye Street, Razainkan Ward, Dala Township, Yangon Region. According to the initial police investigation, U Aung Kyaw Kyaw and Daw Nwe Nwe Htun were found dead with stab wounds in the Buddha room on the second floor of their home. A blood-stained knife approximately 6 inches long and a scale were recovered from the bathroom. Subsequent examination of CCTV footage installed in the house revealed that around 10:10 PM on June 25, two former employees, Bo Hti (alias Myo Zaw) and Ng Myo (alias Myo Zaw Aung), who had left their jobs about eight months prior, entered the house. It was learned that after their arrest and interrogation, they confessed to killing the store owner couple. It was revealed that the perpetrator of the murder was a former employee who had previously worked at the grocery store. Approximately three days before the crime, he had visited the store nightly until late at night with an accomplice, observing the situation and making prior arrangements. CCTV footage showed that around 10 PM on June 25, the former employee called to inform that he had arrived downstairs, and the kind-hearted store owner U Aung Kyaw Kyaw came downstairs and opened the door. According to CCTV, the former employee entered the house at 10:11:52 PM, and his accomplice, another male, entered at 10:12:20 PM. Upon entering the house, the store owner U Aung Kyaw Kyaw asked, "Have you eaten yet? " and they replied that they had already eaten. These former employees had worked at the store since 2021 but had quit about six months ago when they moved to Hlaing Thar Yar with their mother. Their father still lives in Dala Township and frequently visited the store, and the owner couple had lent them money whenever they faced financial difficulties. It was confessed and stated that on that night, the former employee asked for money again, and when it was not lent, he decided to kill the store owner couple. While the store owner U Aung Kyaw Kyaw was praying, the former employee stabbed him in the neck from behind, and the other former employee repeatedly stabbed him in the back with a rice-stuffing pipe. His wife, Daw Nwe Nwe Htun, was also stabbed with a knife. As she did not die immediately, she attempted to ask for help through the window, but was punched and repeatedly stabbed with a knife. The house where the incident occurred is adjacent to a road on one side and has no houses on the other. After the shouting was heard, the lights inside the house went out, leading neighbors to believe it was a marital dispute. The two murderers searched the house by opening doors to see if anyone else was inside after killing the couple. U Aung Kyaw Kyaw's mother had gone to another location three days prior, thus escaping the danger. Afterward, the perpetrators turned off the main electrical switch, washed the knife and rice-stuffing pipe used in the murder in the sink, and fled with the day's sales from the store. Around 7 AM on June 26, a female employee of the store arrived for work and found the store door open. Upon entering, she discovered the owner couple dead on the upper floor. The deceased couple had twin sons who were studying in Thailand. Upon learning of their parents' deaths, they returned to Myanmar and performed the funeral rites.
