AI Summary

A tragic road accident in Bali has resulted in the deaths of two teachers from Banyuwangi, East Java. Drowsy driving by the car's driver is suspected as the cause.

A fatal road accident occurred on the Denpasar-Gilimanuk highway in Bali on Monday (3/8) at approximately 5:20 AM WITA, resulting in the deaths of two individuals. The incident, located at KM 123-124 near Mbah Temon in Penginuman Hamlet, Gilimanuk Village, Melaya District, Jembrana Regency, involved a Toyota Calya with police number P 1443 YE and a Mesion Bus with police number DK 7626 AI. "As a result of the accident, two people inside the Toyota Calya car died at the scene," stated Kapolsek Kawasan Pelabuhan Gilimanuk AKP Gusti Kade Alit Mudiarsa on Monday (3/8). Based on the crime scene investigation (TKP), the Mesion Bus, driven by an individual with the initial IGS, was traveling from Gilimanuk towards Denpasar in its designated lane. At the incident location, the Toyota Calya, driven by Ahmad Imron Arrosid, approached from the opposite direction. It is suspected that the driver of the Calya, possibly drowsy, veered to the right, entering the opposing lane. Due to the short distance between the two vehicles, a collision could not be avoided. The front right side of the Toyota Calya impacted the front right side of the Mesion Bus with considerable force. Consequently, the driver of the Toyota Calya, Ahmad Imron Arrosid, and his passenger, Zaenal Muttaqin, both teachers from Banyuwangi Regency, were declared deceased at the scene. The driver of the Mesion Bus, identified by the initial IGS, did not suffer any injuries. Furthermore, the Toyota Calya sustained severe damage to its front, with the front cabin crushed and both front tires blown out, resulting in an estimated material loss of approximately Rp40 million. "Meanwhile, the Mesion Bus experienced damage to its right front bumper, a cracked windshield, and a dented right door, with estimated material losses reaching Rp20 million," he added. AKP Alit urged all road users to ensure their physical condition is optimal before undertaking journeys, particularly during the early hours of the morning. The accident is currently under investigation by the Unit Gakkum Satlantas Polres Jembrana to determine the precise cause. Source: CNN Indonesia
