Dien Bien Province Announces Road Repairs on National and Provincial Highways

Dien Bien Province in northwestern Vietnam has announced the implementation of regular and emergency road repair works on several national and provincial roads within its jurisdiction. These repairs aim to address infrastructure deterioration and damage caused by natural disasters, ensuring safe passage. The works will primarily focus on sections of National Road 279, National Road 4H, National Road 12, and Provincial Roads 139 and 143. Specific tasks include repairing roadbeds, surfaces, drainage systems, and traffic safety facilities. These projects are being undertaken by various construction companies and joint ventures based on multiple contracts signed between June and July 2026. For instance, on National Road 279, sections from Km57+300 to Km103+900 will undergo roadbed and surface repairs, along with the addition of traffic signals. Similarly, sections of National Road 12, from Km168+350 to Km196+560 and from Km143+175 to Km151+740, will receive similar repair works. Emergency repairs are also planned for National Road 12 (Km89+900 to Km261+900) due to infrastructure damage from the 2025 floods. During the construction period, the Dien Bien Department of Construction requests understanding and cooperation from relevant agencies and local residents regarding potential traffic restrictions and delays. Infrastructure development is considered vital for regional economic revitalization and the smooth flow of logistics. The Vietnamese government is promoting nationwide infrastructure improvement to sustain economic growth and enhance citizens' livelihoods, with road network enhancements in rural areas being a pressing priority.
