Ramon Ang: Bulacan flooding due to low elevation, narrow rivers, not NMIA

San Miguel Corporation (SMC) President Ramon Ang on Tuesday blamed the low elevation, narrow and winding rivers, and low bridges for the flooding in the coastal municipality of Bulakan, not the New Manila International Airport (NMIA) project the company is developing. Ang made the statement during a news conference, addressing concerns that the NMIA project might be exacerbating flood risks in the area. He emphasized that the existing geographical and infrastructural conditions are the primary drivers of the floods, and assured that SMC's project incorporates flood mitigation measures. SMC is undertaking the massive NMIA project in Bulacan, which aims to build a new international gateway for the Philippines.
