LPA Trough to Bring Rain to Visayas, Mindanao

MANILA, Philippines — The trough of the low pressure area (LPA) monitored outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) will bring rain over parts of Visayas and Mindanao on Tuesday, according to the state weather bureau. In its 5 a.m. weather forecast, Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) weather specialist Veronica Torres said that scattered to widespread rain showers and thunderstorms are expected over Western Visayas and Northern and Western Mindanao. These weather conditions may lead to flash floods and possible landslides in some areas, especially those in low-lying and mountainous regions. Residents are advised to take necessary precautions. The LPA is currently located outside PAR, but its trough is expected to affect the weather in the mentioned regions. PAGASA continues to monitor the LPA's development and its potential impact on the country.
