Thailand's Largest Motorway Rest Area in Sriracha Set for Full Opening in June 2027

SRIRACHA, Thailand – The Department of Highways is monitoring construction progress at The Rest Village Sriracha, a major new rest area on the M7 motorway that is scheduled to fully open in June 2027. Department of Highways Director-General Piyapong Jiwatthanakulphaisal inspected the Sriracha Highway Service Centre in Chonburi province on September 17 to review operations along the M7 Bangkok–Chonburi–Pattaya–Map Ta Phut route, as well as progress on The Rest Village and the Sriracha toll plaza. The Rest Village, located at kilometre 93+500 on the outbound side, began partial operations on April 3, with some shops already open. Additional facilities are being developed in phases, including EV charging stations, a petrol station and other services. According to the Department of Highways, construction is slightly behind schedule but remains on track for full operations in June 2027. Spanning 121 rai, The Rest Village will be the largest motorway rest area in Thailand, with parking for more than 1,000 vehicles, over 300 toilets, more than 60 EV charging bays and petrol stations serving both directions. It will also offer a wide range of retail and other services. The project has an investment of about 1 billion baht and is being developed by The Rest Village Co., Ltd., a joint venture between PTT Oil and Retail Business (OR) and Charoen Pokphand Engineering. The project is divided between 62 rai on the Bangkok-bound side and 59 rai on the outbound side. It is also the first motorway rest area in Thailand to feature an elevated building spanning the motorway, with a more than 1,500-square-metre pedestrian connection linking both sides. The Department of Highways says the development is part of its plan to bring motorway rest areas closer to international standards by transforming them from simple stopping points into modern travel hubs with comprehensive facilities.
