Surabaya Zoo Welcomes Four Aldabra Giant Tortoises in Historic First

Surabaya Zoo has welcomed four Aldabra giant tortoises, marking a historic first for the facility. The tortoises were gifted by Seychelles as a symbol of friendship, aiming to enrich the zoo's reptile collection and contribute to conservation and education efforts. The Aldabra giant tortoise is an endangered species, and its conservation is a global concern. Surabaya Zoo plans to provide a safe environment for these precious animals, raising public awareness about their existence and importance. With an average lifespan exceeding 100 years, these tortoises will allow for long-term observation and care. The zoo is committed to continuously monitoring the health of the tortoises and maintaining optimal living conditions. Educational programs and exhibits about the tortoises are also being developed to deepen visitors' understanding of biodiversity.
