Fugitive Drug Suspect Arrested in Chiang Rai, Heroin Addiction Revealed

CHIANG RAI – On July 9, 2026, the dedicated “Night Wolves” investigative team finally captured a 25-year-old fugitive. The young suspect had a long history of dodging the law on serious drug charges. This time, his luck finally ran out in Mae Chan District, Chiang Rai. The successful raid was led by top officials, including Chiang Rai Police Commander Manop Senakul. Officers acted quickly after receiving a reliable tip about illegal drug use at a local house. This target property is located in the quiet, rural village of Ban Huay Rai. When the officers arrived at the property, the panicked suspect immediately tried to run away. However, the police team was fully prepared and quickly brought him under strict control. They then began a thorough search of his bedroom to find any hidden illegal items. During the room search, police discovered methamphetamine pills, which are commonly known as Yaba. The drugs were cleverly hidden inside a gold plastic box shaped like ancient Chinese money. This small, decorative box was left sitting right on top of his unmade bed. The young man confessed right away that the illegal pills actually belonged to him. He told investigating officers that he bought three pills for just 100 baht on July 7. He also claimed he purchased the drugs from an unidentified man in the local area. Following his arrest, the police tested the suspect’s urine for the presence of illegal substances. The initial test results were positive, and doctors at Mae Chan Hospital quickly confirmed the presence of meth. Consequently, police officially charged him with possessing and using illegal drugs without any legal permission. While waiting in police custody, the man began to show severe signs of physical distress. He suffered from intense body aches, sudden cold chills, and uncontrollable tears streaming down his face. Seeing his obvious pain, observant officers questioned him further about his current health condition. The young man finally admitted that he was going through an intense heroin withdrawal. He confessed to officers that he had been heavily using the dangerous drug for over two years. Without the drug in his system, his body was experiencing severe and very painful physical reactions. The suspect is now securely in the hands of the Mae Chan police investigative team. He will face his original arrest warrant right alongside these brand-new, serious drug charges.
