Cambodia Strengthens Religious Veterans Association - Emphasizing Loyalty and Social Stability

Chay Borin, Minister of Cults and Religion, presided over the inauguration ceremony of the provincial committees of the Association of Veterans and Retired Officials in the Religious Sector, held at Phkar Rumdoul Hall in Phnom Penh on the morning of Thursday, July 9, 2026 (local time). The minister stated that the establishment of the provincial committees would further promote coordination and attention from the association's leadership towards veterans and retired officials within their respective jurisdictions. He also noted that Prime Minister Hun Sen, Madam Bun Rany Hun Sen, Prime Minister Hun Manet, and Madam Pich Chanmony have always been concerned about the livelihoods of veterans and retired officials who have made invaluable sacrifices for the cause of national liberation, bringing peace and prosperity to the present day. Minister Chay Borin urged the leaders and members of the Association of Veterans and Retired Officials in the Religious Sector to strictly adhere to the Constitution, laws, and existing legal norms. He emphasized prioritizing the supreme interests of the nation and the people, strengthening internal unity and solidarity, and fostering close and effective cooperation to jointly ensure social security. This initiative by the Cambodian government appears to underscore its efforts to ensure the loyalty and maintain social stability among influential groups, particularly former military personnel and religious figures.
