Myanmar Traditional Food Contest and Exhibition Held

The "Tastes of the Golden Land 2026" traditional food contest and exhibition is being held on July 25th and 26th at the Yangon Convention Center in Yangon. The opening ceremony of the "Tastes of the Golden Land 2026" event was held on the morning of July 25th, attended by Vice President Daw Nan Ni Ni Aye, Union Ministers, the Chief Minister of Yangon Region, government ministers, and invited guests. Vice President Daw Nan Ni Ni Aye stated at the opening ceremony that the event is being held to enable Myanmar's traditional cuisine to be served at an international standard, to increase the fame of Myanmar's traditional cuisine on the world stage, and to promote and attract more international tourists based on Myanmar's traditional cuisine. She also mentioned that in showcasing the traditional culture, customs, national identity, and historical traditions of various countries around the world, food culture plays a very important role alongside tangible and intangible cultures such as arts, literature, and attire. Dr. Nay Zaw Aung, General Secretary of the Myanmar Restaurant Business Association, stated that the current exhibition and contest are being jointly organized by the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism and the Myanmar Restaurant Business Association. The "Tastes of the Golden Land 2026" features cooking and presentation contests, lectures on traditional cuisine, techniques for presenting food cleanly and attractively, regional traditional foods, traditional attire, and jewelry exhibitions. In addition, over 120 booths, including those from 10 branches of the Myanmar Restaurant Business Association, are being exhibited and sold. At the opening ceremony of the "Tastes of the Golden Land 2026" event, appreciation certificates were presented to the supporters who contributed to the success of the exhibition, and prizes were awarded to the winners of the food contest.
