Jokowi Spends Night in Tent with NTT Earthquake Survivors

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) visited earthquake victims in Sikka Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, and spent the night in a refugee tent with them on Wednesday (16/9). His presence was met with enthusiasm by residents upon arrival at Dusun Cawalo, Desa Rokirole, Kecamatan Palue, Sikka Regency. He also had direct dialogue with residents affected by the earthquake at the refugee site. Jokowi's visit was utilized by residents to report on their conditions, including housing damage and post-earthquake needs. The President then inspected some of the infrastructure and building damage caused by the earthquake. During the visit, he also symbolically handed over aid to the residents. Furthermore, the father of Vice President Gibran Rakabuming also stayed overnight with the affected residents at the refugee site. Nikodemus W Lowo, Coordinator of the Main Post for Desa Rikorole, expressed his gratitude for Jokowi's visit, stating, "I feel almost disbelieving with the presence of Mr. Joko Widodo here. For us, I personally feel this is like a dream, but it turns out to be a reality that he is here and very close to us, so we feel it is extraordinary." Jokowi has visited various regions multiple times. Most recently, he attended the circumcision ceremony for the son of Yayasan Al-Busthomi's caretaker, KH Muhammad Busthomi, in Cirebon, West Java, on Saturday (12/9). On that occasion, he was accompanied by officials from the PSI West Java Regional Executive Board and his youngest son, Kaesang Pangarep, who is also the Chairman of the PSI Central Executive Board. Jokowi also visited East Nusa Tenggara in early August, staying in Kupang for three days from July 31 to August 2, 2026. During his visit, he engaged in various activities, including meeting seaweed fishermen at Oesina Beach, Kupang Regency, attending the PSI Kupang City Regional Coordination Meeting, and participating in a walkathon at Car Free Day (CFD) along with a cultural carnival. Jokowi has also been to several areas in Lampung. During his participation in a traditional ceremony there, he stepped on a buffalo's head, which garnered widespread public discussion.
