Cambodia's Ministry of Health and US-ASEAN Business Council Agree to Enhance Cooperation

Cambodia's Minister of Health, H.E. Professor Chheang Ra, met with a delegation from the US-ASEAN Business Council (US-ABC) led by Mr. Brian McFeeters, President & CEO of US-ABC, on the afternoon of July 22, 2026, at the Ministry of Health headquarters. The delegation included Ms. Aleks Zittle, Chargé d'Affaires ad interim of the U.S. Embassy in Cambodia, and representatives from several key American private companies. During the meeting, both sides affirmed their commitment to enhancing cooperation and strengthening their long-standing partnership in the health sector. H.E. Professor Chheang Ra warmly welcomed the delegation and highly valued the excellent cooperation between the Cambodian government, the United States, and American private sector, which has significantly contributed to the development of Cambodia's health sector. He also highlighted the Ministry's priority directions in implementing the Health Strategic Plan 2025–2034, in line with the first phase of the government's Pentagonal Strategy. These priorities focus on strengthening the resilience of the health system, improving service quality, developing human resources, and utilizing technology and innovation to achieve Universal Health Coverage (UHC). In response, the US-ASEAN Business Council delegation expressed their deep gratitude to H.E. Professor Chheang Ra and demonstrated a strong commitment to continuing to strengthen cooperation with the Ministry of Health through investment, technology transfer, research, human resource capacity building, and promoting innovation in the healthcare sector. During this important consultative meeting, both parties exchanged views on several priority topics, including: strengthening cooperation between the Ministry of Health and the private sector; promoting nutrition and implementing the Nutrition Care Process (NCP); dengue fever prevention and management through new technologies; promoting low-sugar products and health education for the prevention of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs); strengthening the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer; and promoting public health policies related to reducing the impact of alcohol consumption. H.E. Professor Chheang Ra further stated that the Ministry of Health welcomes all investments and cooperation with the private sector based on the principles of transparency, sustainability, scientific evidence, and foremost, public health benefits. The Ministry will continue to collaborate closely with development partners and the private sector to build a stronger, more resilient, and highly effective health system for all Cambodian citizens.
