Vietnam Holds National Foreign Affairs Conference to Boost Local Diplomacy and International Resource Mobilization

Vietnam held its 22nd National Foreign Affairs Conference in Hanoi on August 2. The conference, themed "Enhancing the quality of local diplomacy and effectively mobilizing international resources for development," was guided by a keynote speech from Politburo member and Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung. This conference highlights the crucial role of diplomacy in Vietnam's national development strategy, pursued under the one-party system of the Communist Party of Vietnam. The focus is on strengthening diplomatic activities at the local level and maximizing the utilization of international resources, such as investment, technology, and expertise, for domestic economic growth and social development. Vietnam has achieved remarkable economic growth in recent years, underpinned by its proactive outward-looking policies and a diplomatic strategy that emphasizes cooperation with the international community. While navigating complex relations with China, Vietnam has simultaneously deepened economic ties and strengthened relationships with diverse partners, including the United States, Japan, and European nations, to maximize its national interests. The directives outlined at this conference signify concrete steps for Vietnam to further deepen international cooperation and sustain its growth as a developing nation.
