Vietnam is accelerating its efforts to achieve self-reliance in the semiconductor sector, a strategic technology crucial for the digital economy and global competition. A significant step in this direction is the establishment of the national semiconductor chip prototyping support center, which is expected to boost the country's drive towards technological independence. This aligns with the World Bank's analysis that Vietnam must move beyond traditional growth drivers like low-cost labor and foreign investment to reach high-income status by 2045, emphasizing the need for growth driven by higher productivity, innovation, and stronger domestic enterprises capable of creating greater value added. Party General Secretary and State President To Lam has urged for increased public participation in safeguarding national security and social order, stressing that every citizen should contribute to building safe, peaceful, and resilient communities. Technological advancements in the semiconductor sector are seen as contributing not only to economic growth but also to national security and enhanced international competitiveness. Vietnam is poised to strengthen investments in strategic areas like semiconductors, aiming to foster domestic industries and create new engines of economic growth.
