Vietnam's UIT University Sees First Perfect Score in AI, Data Science Fields

The University of Information Technology (UIT), under Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, has announced a historic achievement: the first-ever perfect admission score of 30/30 for its Artificial Intelligence (AI) program in the 2026 academic year. According to the admission results released by the university on August 9, the AI program achieved a score of 100 out of 100, equivalent to a perfect 30 on a 30-point scale. Following closely were Data Science with 91.7 points, Integrated Circuit Design with 90.5 points, Information Security with 88.7 points, and Computer Science with 88.5 points (equivalent to 26.55 and above on a 30-point scale). These programs are in high-demand IT fields experiencing rapid growth in Vietnam. Other programs had admission scores of 76 out of 100 and above, translating to 22.8 points and higher on the 30-point scale. Successful candidates can check their results from August 10 and must confirm their enrollment on the Ministry of Education and Training's system by 5 PM on August 21. UIT is admitting over 2,300 students this year. In addition to direct admissions for national and international award winners, the university employs a comprehensive evaluation method. The admission score is calculated as 47.5% from the High School Graduation Exam (THPT), 47.5% from the competency assessment test, and 5% from the high school transcript, with additional bonus and preferential points considered. Tuition fees for new students in 2026 at UIT range from approximately VND 41.8 million to VND 85 million (around USD 1,650 to USD 3,350), depending on the program. Last year, UIT's admission scores ranged from 24 to 29.6 on the 30-point scale, with AI having the highest score. The emergence of a perfect score this year highlights the advancements in cultivating high-level IT talent in Vietnam and the increasing student interest in AI and Data Science.
