Cambodia and US Agree to Boost Economic Ties, Expand Investment and Trade

Phnom Penh: Neak Oknha Kith Meng, Chairman of the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce and Chairman of the ASEAN Business Advisory Council for Cambodia, met with a US business delegation led by Mrs. Chan Sokvasana, Founder and President of the American-Cambodian Chamber of Commerce (ACBC), on the afternoon of Wednesday, September 9, 2026. During the meeting, Mrs. Chan Sokvasana expressed her delight and gratitude for the warm welcome from Neak Oknha Kith Meng. She strongly expressed her desire to strengthen and expand business, trade, and investment relations between Cambodia and the United States, making them more robust and profound. Furthermore, Mrs. Sokvasana stated that she would lead successive US business delegations to Cambodia. The current delegation comprises major companies interested in investing in Cambodia in key sectors such as logistics, infrastructure, manufacturing, and agriculture. Mrs. Sokvasana expressed strong hope that through excellent relations with the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce, the ACBC can enhance cooperation and connect businesses between the two countries more closely and effectively. In response, Neak Oknha Kith Meng warmly welcomed the initiative and commitment of the ACBC to strengthen the economic bridge connecting Cambodia and the United States. The Chairman highlighted the strong and long-standing bilateral relations between the two countries over 76 years (1950-2026) and recalled significant historical events between them. Neak Oknha Kith Meng expressed gratitude for the support of President Donald Trump on the Kuala Lumpur Peace Agreement on October 26, 2025. He added that the United States is one of the largest export markets and a significant trading partner for Cambodia, with bilateral trade volume steadily increasing. Moreover, the presence of world-class American companies like Coca-Cola, Ford, Chevron, Caltex, and GE clearly demonstrates confidence in Cambodia's business environment, which currently enjoys peace, political stability, and is heading towards the vision of becoming a high-income country by 2050. In conclusion, both parties expressed their firm commitment and conviction that the visit of the US business delegation will serve as a powerful catalyst in opening a new chapter of cooperation, long-term investment partnership, and bringing mutual economic benefits to the business communities of both countries.
