Cambodian Ruling Party Directs Crackdown on Online Scams, Service Improvement

Khuong Sreng, a member of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP) Central Committee and Chairman of the CPP Phnom Penh Municipal Committee, has instructed district and commune authorities to eradicate online scams (ONLINES CAMS) within their jurisdictions and to enhance the provision of services to citizens through the 'one-stop service' mechanism. This directive was issued during a meeting with members of the five commune party committees of Chroy Changvar District on the evening of July 29, 2026, at the CPP Chroy Changvar District Party Headquarters. Mr. Khuong Sreng stated that the CPP has achieved many accomplishments for the nation, particularly under the leadership of Prime Minister Hun Sen, which has brought prosperity to Cambodia. He highlighted that the CPP has saved lives, granted freedoms to the Cambodian people, unified the nation, and rescued citizens from the COVID-19 pandemic, leading to national development and progress. He also reiterated the vision to transform Cambodia into an upper-middle-income country by 2030 and a high-income country by 2050. Furthermore, Mr. Khuong Sreng urged CPP members and activists to continue supporting the government's efforts to resolve border disputes with Thailand peacefully, using international law and diplomacy to protect the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Cambodia. He emphasized trusting the leadership of Prime Minister Hun Sen, the CPP President, and Prime Minister Hun Manet in resolving Cambodia-Thailand border issues peacefully and without bloodshed. He encouraged members and activists to disseminate the exemplary actions of both leaders to the public, fostering deeper understanding and support for the CPP, thereby aiming for decisive victories in the upcoming elections in 2027 and 2028. During the event, commune chiefs and some village chiefs reported on the party's achievements and ongoing action plans, including efforts to recruit party members. Additionally, they requested the construction of certain infrastructure in their localities, such as concrete roads, the digging of canals, and the installation of public lighting poles. Mr. Khuong Sreng agreed to these requests and pledged to fulfill them. These directives appear to be part of the ruling party's strategy to address the growing issue of online scams and to maintain and expand public support. Emphasizing transparency and efficiency in administrative services is seen as crucial for gaining citizen trust.
