A video claiming former Indonesian Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa would expose the names of mafia figures in Indonesia has been circulating on Facebook for several weeks. The video features audio purportedly from Sadewa stating, "I will expose the names of these mafia, as long as the people protect me quickly, I will expose them. I really need the support of the people, because fighting them requires not only courage but also support. So that all people can support me." Accompanying the video is a narrative urging, "THE PEOPLE MUST SUPPORT MR. PURBAYA TO EXPOSE THOSE WHO HARM THE COUNTRY..👍👍". To verify this claim, Liputan6.com's fact-checking team used AI detection sites, Hive Moderation and Truthscan.com, to analyze the audio in the video. Hive Moderation determined that 80.3% of the audio was AI-modified, while Truthscan.com analyzed it as 99% AI-modified. Further investigation uncovered an identical video uploaded by the Antara TV TikTok account on February 3, 2026, titled "Menkeu Purbaya sebut anggaran program gentengisasi tak sampai Rp 1 T" (Finance Minister Purbaya says the budget for the roof renovation program is less than Rp 1 trillion). This finding indicates that the claim of exposing mafia names is false and constitutes a malicious hoax.
