Acting President Min Aung Hlaing, who transformed from a military leader, has been barred from attending ASEAN summits due to the five-point consensus agreed upon by the ASEAN bloc. In response, Dr. Nanda Hla Myint, a Member of Parliament from the proxy Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP), has submitted a motion to the proxy parliament and engaged in discussions in protest. Dr. Nanda Hla Myint, a USDP MP who won from the Kalaw constituency in the fraudulent 2025/26 general election, submitted a motion to the proxy Union Parliament on June 26, urging that the ASEAN's Five-Point Consensus on Myanmar be "reconsidered and addressed as it is not compatible with Myanmar," according to a statement from the proxy government. USDP MP Dr. Nanda Hla Myint stated, including Western countries, that the five-point ASEAN consensus undermines Myanmar's equal standing within the ASEAN bloc, contradicts the fundamental principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries, and continues to exert pressure and exclusion against their proxy government. The five-point consensus was established after the ASEAN summit held in Jakarta, Indonesia, on April 24, 2021, which was the last summit attended by coup leader Min Aung Hlaing. The ASEAN bloc has since barred the military junta from attending summits and excluded them due to their continued perpetration of violence and failure to comply with the consensus. As the military junta continues to commit nationwide bombings and acts of terrorism, many countries worldwide, including the United Nations, the European Union, and the United States, have imposed sanctions and blockades, similar to ASEAN. In an effort to quickly escape these exclusions, the junta transformed into a proxy government, calling itself a "civilian government," by holding a fraudulent general election in December 2025. Despite this transformation, the international community has unequivocally stated that it does not accept the military junta's fraudulent 2025 election and continues to maintain exclusions and sanctions. Currently, the proxy government of the military junta is seeking assistance in various ways from some neighboring countries that support them, in order to overcome the political and military difficulties they are facing. Amidst this, the proxy USDP MP has once again attempted to pressure ASEAN in this manner. Regarding the motion submitted by USDP MP Dr. Nanda Hla Myint, it has been announced through the proxy government's propaganda newspapers that MPs wishing to discuss the matter can submit their names, and it will be included in the discussions at the proxy parliament session to be reconvened on July 2.
