Quang Phu Ward in Da Nang City Holds Inaugural Traditional Boat Race

On August 1st, Quang Phu Ward in Da Nang City, central Vietnam, organized its first traditional boat race. This event aims to enrich the ward's cultural and sporting activities and serves as a meaningful celebration for the 81st anniversary of the Vietnam People's Public Security (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2026) and the 21st anniversary of the All-People's National Security Defense Day (August 19, 2005 - August 19, 2026). For generations, rivers have not only nourished life but also shaped the unique cultural values of the people in the Quang region. On these rivers, traditional boat racing has become a beautiful cultural feature, symbolizing collective strength, solidarity, resilience, and the aspiration to rise above challenges. The inaugural Quang Phu Ward Traditional Boat Race attracted over 200 athletes from various teams, including those from Tam Thanh, Tinh Thuy, Hoa Ha, and Tam Phu neighborhoods, as well as clubs such as Nam Phuoc Youth Boat Team, Quang Dai-Vu Gia Boat Team, and Cua Dai-Hoi An Boat Team. The competition featured two categories: the Men's 4.5km Peace Race and the Men's 7.5km Traditional Race. Mr. Huynh Ngoc Ba, Chairman of the Quang Phu Ward People's Committee, shared that the boat race is more than just a sporting event. It is an opportunity to honor the local cultural identity, preserve the fine traditional values passed down by ancestors, and promote the image of the ward as a friendly, dynamic, and culturally rich locality to friends and tourists from near and far. "With serious preparation, determination, and noble sportsmanship, the athletes will offer the audience fierce, beautiful, and emotional competitions.
