Cambodia's Ministry of Interior Holds Consultation on Draft Gender Mainstreaming Strategy Plan 2026-2030

The Ministry of Interior of Cambodia has organized a consultation workshop for the draft Gender Mainstreaming Strategy Plan for the period 2026-2030. The meeting brought together representatives from relevant ministries, sub-national administrations, development partners, and civil society organizations to finalize the draft strategy. During the opening ceremony on July 8, 2026, H.E. Ong Sophaivvy, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Interior and Head of the Ministry's Gender Working Group, emphasized that the consultation aims to gather input from the Ministry of Interior, sub-national administrations, and relevant departments. This input will be used to adjust and refine the strategy plan to ensure it is comprehensive and can be effectively implemented. She stated that the draft strategy plan is based on a solid legal foundation, aligning with the Ministry's vision and mission, as well as national and international standards, and reflecting Cambodia's current economic and social conditions. H.E. Ong Sophaivvy further explained that this third phase of the Gender Mainstreaming Strategy Plan will highlight the progress of gender mainstreaming work, challenges, and priority actions for units under the Ministry and sub-national administrations. The goal is to promote gender equality and empower women, particularly by strengthening their contributions in public life, politics, and leadership. This initiative seeks to enhance gender dividends in the agenda of economic growth, social welfare, and governance, ensuring responsiveness to the diverse needs of men, women, persons with disabilities, ethnic minorities, and other vulnerable groups with transparency, equality, equity, and inclusivity.
