Cambodia Strengthens Support for Women and Girls with Disabilities to Combat Discrimination

The Ministry of Women's Affairs organized a two-day workshop on July 20-21, 2026, at the Hotel Cambodiana in Phnom Penh, focusing on strengthening support for women and girls with disabilities and eliminating discrimination. The workshop, organized by the Disability Action Working Group, was presided over by H.E. Nyem Mokot, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Women's Affairs. A total of 157 participants, including 110 women, attended. Attendees comprised leaders and officials from relevant ministries and institutions, representatives from provincial departments of women's affairs, development partners, civil society organizations, and the private sector. According to the Ministry of Women's Affairs, the main objectives of the program included: * Enhancing Understanding: To update participants on the actual situation of women and girls with disabilities, both nationally and internationally. * Sharing Experiences: To reflect on good practices and efforts in supporting the protection and promotion of the rights of women and girls with disabilities from ministries, institutions, and relevant partners. * Defining Concrete Measures: To set clear directions and action programs to increase protection and eliminate all forms of discrimination in the future. Through this workshop, the Royal Government of Cambodia, via the Ministry of Women's Affairs, expressed its strong commitment to continuing close cooperation with all relevant parties, including the state sector, civil society, and the private sector, to create an environment free from discrimination and provide equal opportunities for women and girls with disabilities.
