Vietnamese Students Triumph at International Coding Competition

Students from Vietnam's Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology (PTIT) have achieved significant success at Coding Fest 2026, an international programming competition held in Australia. The university's teams clinched the top prize and two second prizes for their innovative projects. The competition, which took place on July 28 in Australia, attracted 300 students from universities worldwide, showcasing 35 technology projects. Three teams from PTIT participated and all secured awards in their respective categories. The Memotion team, comprising Đinh Hiếu Vũ, Nguyễn Thị Thoa, Nguyễn Hải Nam, and Nguyễn Bá Hùng, won the award for the best project in AI in healthcare and medicine. Their winning project is a proactive healthcare platform and an AI-powered home rehabilitation system for the elderly. In the same category, the Aura QR Ems team, consisting of Đoàn Thị Đoan Trang, Nguyễn Quang Chiến, and Nguyễn Thế Hùng, received a second prize for their project on an emergency medical system and a digital medical passport. Meanwhile, the Safework team, made up of Nguyễn Trung Nam, Trương Ngọc Diễm, Lê Duy Anh, and Bế Quốc Khánh, earned a second prize in the Health, Safety & Resilience category for their integrated mine safety system project. These projects are the result of P-Innovation, a program organized by PTIT to foster an innovation ecosystem within the university environment. After three years of implementation, the program has become a platform for incubation, where ideas are developed into products and tested with users. According to university representatives, the results at Coding Fest 2026 demonstrate the effectiveness of PTIT's strategy to integrate training with practical application and internationalization. Student ideas are nurtured domestically before being further refined and tested on the global stage. PTIT plans to expand cooperation with international universities and partners to create more opportunities for students to develop technological products and access the global academic environment. PTIT is a key national university under the Ministry of Science and Technology. In recent years, it has been actively building an innovation ecosystem, featuring strong research groups, technological laboratories, R&D activities, startup support programs, and a network of technology companies and alumni. Recognizing the challenges in commercializing research findings due to a lack of early-stage investment, PTIT established a startup investment fund for students in May. This initiative links education, scientific research, technology transfer with businesses, and the capital market.
