Vietnam Embraces Digitalization and Heritage Preservation

Museums in Vietnam are increasingly adopting technology to transform traditional exhibition spaces into interactive and immersive experiences. This digital shift began in earnest in 2021 with the launch of an exploration room for children featuring interactive screens. Tuyen Quang Province, home to 46 ethnic groups, over 70% of whom are ethnic minorities, boasts 794 historical and cultural relic sites and 871 intangible cultural heritage items, including 53 designated as national intangible cultural heritage. Efforts are underway to leverage these valuable assets through modern methods to enhance their appeal as tourism resources. Cultural and tourism events are also being organized across the country. The Moc Chau Cultural and Tourism Week 2026 in Son La Province, scheduled from August 31 to September 5, will feature a wide array of cultural, tourism, trade, and sports activities, aiming to promote the region's attractions and draw tourists. Ho Chi Minh City is working to integrate culture into daily life by transforming public spaces, heritage, and the arts into engines for creativity, community engagement, and sustainable development. In the sports sector, the Vietnamese esports team Secret Whales emerged victorious in the 2026 League of Legends Championship Pacific (LCP) Finals. Furthermore, the Vietnamese men's national football team successfully defended their ASEAN Hyundai Cup 2026 title, igniting national pride. These developments underscore Vietnam's commitment to preserving its traditional culture while embracing modern technologies and international events to invigorate society and improve the quality of life for its citizens. The digitalization of cultural heritage, in particular, is seen as crucial for its transmission to younger generations and for broader public access. This aligns with the country's broader strategy to promote cultural development and national cohesion within its one-party system.
