Jakarta Deploys Over 26,000 Personnel to Secure Mass Demonstrations

Jakarta Metropolitan Police have deployed a total of 26,386 joint personnel to ensure strict security for 99 public activities and demonstrations scheduled across Jakarta today (September 24, 2026). These activities include 73 public expressions of opinion (demonstrations) and 26 other community events. According to the Head of Public Relations for the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Kombes Pol Budi Hermanto, this deployment was decided after coordination meetings and simulations involving relevant agencies, including the Police, the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the Jakarta Provincial Government, and the Parliament/People's Consultative Assembly Security Force (Pamdal DPR dan MPR RI). The objective is to strengthen coordination in services and security for community activities within the jurisdiction and to unify perceptions. Specifically, 4,020 personnel will be stationed around Monas (National Monument) and Silang Selatan (South Silang) to closely monitor areas for expressions of opinion. Additionally, 4,051 personnel will be deployed around Bundaran HI (HI Roundabout) and Dukuh Atas, and 3,663 personnel around the Parliament complex. Furthermore, 2,055 traffic police officers have been on standby since 5:00 AM to ensure traffic safety, order, and smooth flow. Other personnel include 296 stationed at Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII), 197 in areas related to the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Defense, and 102 security personnel around the National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM) and the High Court. These placements aim to provide support and security for the smooth and safe execution of public expressions of opinion. Mr. Budi emphasized that security operations will prioritize cooperative and humane approaches, respecting human rights. Preventive measures are also being taken through cyber patrols and monitoring of digital media to counter calls that could potentially disrupt public order and security.
