Threats vs. Hontiveros, Marcos traced to same individuals -- NBI
The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has stated that threats against Senator Risa Hontiveros and President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. likely originate from the same individuals. The NBI is currently conducting an ongoing investigation into the matter.
The individuals who allegedly threatened Senator Risa Hontiveros also made threats against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Director Melvin Matibag said Monday. Matibag said the NBI had received numerous threats against the President. "Actually, we've already penetrated it. Though I cannot give too many details because we are still investigating," Matibag said in an ambush interview. The NBI launched its investigation after Hontiveros received online death threats in the wake of the killing of vlogger Alicia "Mima Alicia" Lipata outside her home in Caloocan City on July 17. Authorities have since identified persons of interest and are building cases for possible filing before the Department of Justice. Matibag did not elaborate further, citing the ongoing investigation. The NBI is investigating online death threats and comments directed at Hontiveros. Matibag earlier said the bureau had already identified persons of interest. He said the bureau would continue its case build-up and file complaints with the Department of Justice once it has gathered sufficient evidence. — MCG, GMA News
