He also said that it is necessary to systematically supervise and control the misuse of land allocated for agriculture and livestock breeding for regional food self-sufficiency, which is not being utilized properly and is being misused in other ways, in accordance with laws, rules, and regulations. However, it is observed that we have not met the target, that oilseed crops are used for traditional consumption without being processed into oil, and that peanuts and sesame are exported abroad even at the raw material stage. Therefore, to ensure domestic edible oil self-sufficiency, if we truly cultivate oilseed crops and strive to achieve the yield per acre, the annual import of edible oil from abroad can be significantly reduced. Crops such as sesame, sunflower, peanuts, soybeans, and oil palm are mainly cultivated in our country. If these main oilseed crops are successfully cultivated and produced, it will greatly contribute to domestic edible oil self-sufficiency. Regarding oil palm cultivation, although a large amount of land was previously allocated in Tanintharyi Region, many weaknesses are still found in oil palm cultivation. If oil palms can be successfully cultivated in Tanintharyi Region and edible oil can be produced, edible oil will be sufficiently available in Tanintharyi Region, Mon State, and Karen State, the President said. Furthermore, for the success of agricultural activities, it is necessary to systematically implement the four main methods: seeds, land, water, and technology. While contract farming can be implemented for this purpose, in order to further promote the interests of individual farmers, it is necessary to establish a cooperative system that is consistent with Myanmar's traditions and implement a system where farmers cultivate collectively. The state is systematically providing agricultural loans required for farmers to cultivate collectively, in accordance with the prescribed criteria. Regarding the enhancement of double cropping capabilities, it is necessary for the basic statistical data to be accurate.
