BuCor Warns Public Against Fake Recruitment Websites

THE Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) on Monday warned the public and prospective applicants against two fake websites impersonating its official online recruitment platform. BuCor said the websites, e-bucor-rms.vercel.app and bucor-recruitment.online, have no affiliation with the agency and were confirmed as fraudulent by its Recruitment and Information Technology departments. BuCor Director General Gregorio Pio P. Catapang, Jr. urged applicants to conduct recruitment transactions only through bucor.gov.ph or other authorized communication channels. An open-source intelligence investigation found that the first website allowed users to register, log in and recover passwords, despite having no identifiable developer or organization behind it. The launch date of the site could not be determined, Mr. Catapang said in a statement. The second website was registered recently and uses privacy services that conceal the registrant’s identity. It is hosted by InterServer Inc., with registration handled by Hostinger Operations, UAB, BuCor said. Mr. Catapang warned that fraudulent recruitment sites could be used to steal personal information, exploit applicants financially, and spread false information. “In an age where digital deception grows increasingly sophisticated, vigilance is essential,” he said. — Mark Joseph M.
