Heavy rains possible in some regions and states

Due to the strengthening of the monsoon in the Andaman Sea and the Bay of Bengal, and the development of atmospheric disturbances in the Bay of Bengal, thunderstorms are expected to occur in many regions and states, with the possibility of localized heavy rains in some areas, according to a release from the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology at 8:00 AM on July 20. From the morning of July 20 to July 28, thunderstorms are expected to occur in Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon Region, Bago Region, Upper Sagaing Region, Ayeyarwady Region, Tanintharyi Region, Kachin State, Kayah State, Kayin State, Chin State, Mon State, Rakhine State, and Shan State, with the possibility of localized heavy rains in some areas. As heavy rainfall may be accompanied by strong winds, flash floods, and landslides, residents living near high ground are advised to be aware of the risk of landslides, and those living near small rivers and streams are advised to be aware of the risk of floods and inundation. Furthermore, domestic flights, fishing vessels, and ships along the Myanmar coast and in offshore waters are also advised to take precautions in advance.
