South Korean National Arrested in Hua Hin for Alleged 147 Million Baht Property Scam

Hua Hin – A 67-year-old South Korean national, identified as Mr. Han, has been arrested in Hua Hin, Prachuap Khiri Khan province, on charges of large-scale fraud involving real estate investments. The arrest was made by the Crime Suppression Division (CSD) at a luxury residence in Hin Lek Fai, Hua Hin District. Authorities suspect that Mr. Han defrauded multiple victims in South Korea of a total of 147 million baht (approximately 600 million Thai Baht) by soliciting funds for real estate investments. The case came to light after victims from South Korea filed complaints with the Thai police. It is believed that Mr. Han lured investors by promising high returns on real estate development and investment projects in Thailand. However, investigations suggest that the funds collected were not actually invested and may have been misappropriated by Mr. Han and his associates. The apprehension of foreign nationals involved in criminal activities, particularly large-scale fraud, is a critical issue for Thailand, aiming to maintain its image as a tourist destination and attract foreign investment. Real estate and investment scams often involve substantial financial losses for victims, leading to police investigations upon receiving complaints.
