A discussion forum titled "From Cotton Cultivation to the Textile Industry" was held Monday morning at the Town Hall in Magway, with the aim of promoting the development of domestic cotton cultivation, expanding cotton-based manufacturing industries, and advancing every stage of the value chain from cotton farming to textile production. President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar U Min Aung Hlaing attended and delivered a keynote address. First, representatives from cotton industry groups presented the outcomes of their discussions. Union Ministers U Min Naung, U Myo Zaw Thein, and Dr. Charlie Than then provided supplementary explanations on the support being provided by their respective ministries for the development of the cotton industry. The Chairman of the Cotton and Cotton Products Manufacturers Association also presented on current operational activities and the challenges being faced. Afterward, the President delivered a concluding guidance speech. He stated that Myanmar already possesses favorable conditions and a strong foundation for successful cotton cultivation and production, making it inevitable that the country will become a cotton-exporting nation. He emphasized that the discussions and requirements arising from the "From Cotton Cultivation to the Textile Industry" forum should be reviewed, and necessary follow-up actions should be taken. He noted that the exchange of experiences and needs across sectors had produced positive results, and that this would enable further progress in the industry. He concluded that the forum had been a successful one, and that it represented an effort to find ways to build a better nation. Afterward, the President cordially greeted the attendees and toured the exhibition booths displaying cotton cultivation and production-related materials arranged by various groups. He inspected the exhibits, asked questions, and discussed matters with responsible officials based on their presentations, it’s reported.
