Sitagu Sayadaw donates 1 billion kyats for Leik Myar Nar flood

State Ovādācariya, Shwekyin Nikāya Thathana-paing Abhidhaja Mahāratthāguru, Sitagu Sayadaw, has donated 1 billion kyats for the restoration of flood-affected Leik Myar Nar Township in Ayeyarwady Region, the Yangon Region government announced. The ceremony was held on the morning of September 18 at Sitagu Buddha University (Yangon) in Dagon Township (North), Yangon Region, and was attended by Yangon Region Chief Minister U Aung Naing Thu, Ayeyarwady Region Chief Minister U Aye Kyaw, Yangon Region Government Minister for Social Affairs U Bo Thet, Yangon Region Advocate General Daw Phyu Ma Wai, and departmental officials. The 1 billion kyats donated by Sitagu Sayadaw was handed over by Yangon Region Chief Minister U Aung Naing Thu to Ayeyarwady Region Chief Minister U Aye Kyaw. Following this, the Ayeyarwady Region Chief Minister presented a letter of appreciation to the Sayadaw. Subsequently, the Yangon Region Chief Minister and the Ayeyarwady Region Chief Minister offered Kathoe Shin (rainy season robes) to Sitagu Sayadaw and donated funds for the Sitagu Eye Donation, it is learned.
