Lino Cayetano May Testify on Taguig 'Ghost Projects' – Lacson

MANILA, Philippines – Former congressman Lino Cayetano, brother of Senators Alan and Pia Cayetano, has volunteered to provide information on alleged ghost projects in Taguig, Senator Panfilo Lacson said Monday. Lacson made the disclosure as he revealed that his office has been looking into what he described as “defective projects” in Taguig involving firms owned by the Discayas during the time Senator Alan Cayetano served as House Speaker. “Someone told me, through an intermediary, that Lino wanted to cross over and asked if he could contact me because he wants to help in the investigation. He said he knows of many ghost projects in Taguig,” Lacson said in a radio interview with Ted Failon and DJ Chacha. “We will look into those to show there are ghost projects in Taguig,” he added. Lino Cayetano is currently the general manager of government’s state broadcast media, PTV 4. Lacson also vowed that he would not “invent or fabricate evidence,” and instead would “exert extra effort” to back his findings. Later, in a Facebook livestream, Sen. Alan Cayetano responded to Lacson’s claims questioning why Taguig was being investigated when flooding was not even an issue in the city. “All over the Philippines, all over Metro Manila, it’s already flooded, but for us, thank God, it’s fine. But they will investigate us. They say there are Discaya projects,” the senator said. He then pointed out that it was Lacson, not him, who had been photographed with the Discayas. “But apart from that, who is the one with the Discayas in the picture? Isn’t it Sen. Ping Lacson? But I will be investigated, not him,” he said./dp
