Prabowo Calls for 'Indonesia Incorporated' to Tackle Housing Shortage

President Prabowo Subianto has called for an 'Indonesia Incorporated' approach, urging the government, banks, developers, and the national private sector to work as a team to accelerate the provision of people's homes. This initiative was highlighted during the Mass Akad of 62,000 units of subsidized housing KPR and Rp880 billion Housing KUR in Batang Regency, Central Java. During the event, Prabowo acknowledged the government's significant achievements in the housing sector but admitted that the need for decent housing for the people remains substantial. He stressed that housing programs cannot rely on a single ministry and require joint efforts from the Ministry of Housing, developers, banks, the Housing Savings Management Agency (TAPERA), Bank Indonesia, state-owned enterprises, and national private companies. Prabowo emphasized the crucial support from Himbara banks (Indonesian State Banks Association) and national private banks as an integral part of this large undertaking. He defined 'Indonesia Incorporated' as "the big helping the small, and the small working hard to be productive." He underscored that a decent house is more than just a structure; it is a refuge, a place to build a family, and a foundation for a safer life. Therefore, the government is committed to finding ways to double the number of houses available to the community. "It is our determination that all Indonesian citizens can have a decent home," Prabowo stated. The event saw the simultaneous signing of mass KPR house subsidy contracts at 165 locations across 372 districts and cities in 36 provinces. While proud to bring happiness to tens of thousands of families, Prabowo urged against complacency, calling for closer and more unified work. "We have to be one. One team. The key is cooperation," he asserted. Furthermore, the President revealed that the government is studying new methods to expedite house construction, advocating for learning from other countries as long as the objective serves the people. He believes that great nations require great courage, including the courage to learn from international experiences and adapt them to Indonesia's specific needs. While avoiding specific promises, Prabowo affirmed the commitment to "continue to carry out the plans that have been prepared."
