Cambodia's Poipet Authorities Intensify Support for Flood Evacuees

In Poipet City, Banteay Meanchey Province, Cambodia, evacuation and support activities are ongoing for residents affected by recent flooding. On the night of September 24, 2026, a government working group led by Dr. Pan Kham Bunthorn visited residents evacuated to a safe high ground. This temporary shelter, established at a school within Wat Palelay in Ou Chrov commune, is currently housing 28 households comprising 123 people, including 65 women. Of these, 25 households are from Kbal Koh village and 3 households are from Poipet village. Dr. Bunthorn instructed the residents to pay close attention to the health, hygiene, and safety of their families, especially young children, given the potential for surrounding areas to be affected by floods and other risks. He also urged them to contact authorities immediately if they encounter any necessities or issues during their stay. Dr. Bunthorn emphasized the constant readiness of the working group and Poipet City authorities to rescue and protect residents impacted by the floods. This direct visit is part of the preparatory and intervention measures to ensure evacuees receive necessary support. The Poipet City authorities and the government working group continue to maintain vigilance to provide timely intervention and assistance should any emergency or urgent need arise.
