Cambodia Transfers Over 600 Juvenile Offenders for Food and Material Production to Support Frontline Forces

Cambodia's Ministry of Justice has transferred over 600 juvenile offenders to the 4th Correctional Center in Poipet, implementing vocational training in agriculture and construction as part of their rehabilitation program. The initiative aims to produce food and concrete materials to support frontline forces defending and maintaining national sovereignty. On July 30, 2026, Chon Sanat, Director-General of the General Department of Prisons, accompanied by H.E. Kim Santhiep, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Justice and representative of H.E. Keth Reth, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice, inspected the implementation of sentences at the 4th Correctional Center. This was according to a source from the General Department of Prisons. During the occasion, the delegation inspected the security system, detention facility infrastructure, and vocational training programs for inmates. The over 600 juvenile offenders transferred to the 4th Correctional Center are undergoing training in agricultural and construction work, contributing to the production of food supplies and concrete materials to support frontline forces in defending and preserving national sovereignty. Results show that the juvenile offenders have displayed positive changes, demonstrating a spirit of awakening, respecting discipline, striving for self-improvement, and actively participating in their specialized trades with responsibility, achieving notable outcomes. Concurrently, the Director-General advised leaders and officials to continue strengthening work discipline, professional ethics, security, safety, and the development of vocational training and agricultural production programs to enhance the efficiency of inmate management and behavioral correction, in line with the government's policies.
