Cambodia Pledges Faster, Lower-Cost Investor Services as Svay Rieng Emerges as Industrial Hub
Cambodia has pledged to expedite and reduce the cost of investment services as Svay Rieng Province and Bavet City solidify their roles as emerging industrial hubs, aiming to boost investment and economic growth in the region.
SVAY RIENG, Sept 20, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia has pledged to make investment services faster and less costly as rising activity in Svay Rieng Province and Bavet City strengthens the area’s role as an emerging industrial hub, officials said Saturday. Chea Vuthy, Secretary General of the Cambodian Investment Board of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), made the remarks while presiding over a unity dinner of the Foreign Investment Enterprises Association and a Mid‑Autumn Festival celebration at the Svay Rieng Giga Resource Special Economic Zone. He said the expanding investment community in Svay Rieng and Bavet was helping transform the area into an important economic and industrial centre, contributing to growth, job creation, exports and diversification of Cambodia’s production base. Vuthy reaffirmed the CDC’s commitment to facilitating investors through three approaches: reducing time, reducing costs and streamlining management structures. The government will continue simplifying administrative, import‑export and trade procedures through the one‑stop‑service mechanism, he said, stressing cooperation among ministries, institutions and local authorities in providing support and a favourable environment. At the same time, Vuthy urged foreign investors to place greater emphasis on environmental protection, social responsibility and good governance, including compliance with laws and payment of taxes. Tax contributions, he noted, enable the government to invest in infrastructure and human‑resource development, which in turn supports services for investors. The gathering brought together enterprises operating in Svay Rieng and Bavet to strengthen business ties and share information on opportunities. The CDC identifies investment facilitation and simplified procedures as core parts of its mandate. Svay Rieng has increasingly attracted manufacturing projects. Among approvals in April was a $9.6 million factory producing oil for vehicle tyres and rubber products in the Sin Bavet Special Economic Zone, expected to create 350 jobs. Vuthy expressed hope that continued cooperation between government and investors would further strengthen Cambodia’s investment environment and contribute to socio‑economic development.
