It is reported that on June 26, officials from the Mandalay Electric Power Supply Corporation investigated and discovered that the meter at an ice factory located between 12th Street and 88th Street and 89th Street in Aung Myay Thar San Township was showing an error and its original condition was compromised. Consequently, an investigation by the Electricity Testing and Inspection Department in Yangon found that electricity had been stolen and used. Due to this illegal usage, a loss of 362,740 units of electricity occurred, and the owner was ordered to pay over 181 million kyats in compensation for the electricity charges and damages to the Mandalay Electric Power Supply Corporation. The electricity supply was immediately disconnected. Furthermore, the Mandalay Electric Power Supply Corporation stated that measures are being taken to effectively penalize the business owner who obtained and used electricity through illicit means, in accordance with the Electricity Law.
