Thai Industrial Estates Embrace "Nature Positive" for Coexistence with Nature

The Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT) is strengthening its efforts to coexist with nature by introducing the new "Nature Positive" concept in the development of industrial estates nationwide, in collaboration with the Biodiversity-Nature-Culture Heritage Department (BEDO). This concept aims not only to minimize the environmental impact of industrial development but also to actively contribute to ecosystem restoration and the enhancement of biodiversity. "Nature Positive" goes beyond compensating for natural environments lost due to development; it seeks to improve natural environments by a greater extent, aligning with the global trend towards achieving a sustainable society. IEAT plans to formulate and implement specific plans to expand green spaces within industrial estates, introduce water and air purification technologies, and protect and restore local ecosystems, leveraging BEDO's expertise. This initiative is also linked to the Thai government's national strategy to ensure sustainable economic growth while reducing environmental burdens. Amidst increasing international environmental regulations and the growing importance of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) investments, the introduction of such advanced environmental conservation measures is considered essential for the Thai industrial sector to maintain and enhance its international competitiveness.
