Hung Yen's Tan Hung Commune Holds Trade Promotion Conference for Longan Consumption

On August 6, Tan Hung Commune People's Committee in Hung Yen Province, Vietnam, organized a trade promotion conference for the consumption of longan fruits and the commune's traditional products. The event saw the participation of numerous gardeners, cooperatives, businesses, and traders from within and outside the province. The trade promotion conference featured 10 booths showcasing and introducing the locality's characteristic products, including fresh longan, dried longan (long nhan), and longan stuffed with lotus seeds, alongside various agricultural products, OCOP products, and other typical traditional goods. The event created a space for cooperatives, gardeners, and businesses to connect, exchange information, and grasp market demands. This aims to gradually improve product quality and consumption methods, working towards the sustainable and professional development of local agricultural product brands. Tan Hung Commune currently cultivates approximately 330 hectares of longan, with 240 hectares produced according to VietGAP standards. The commune's longan output for 2026 is estimated to reach around 4,000 tons. To support its residents, the commune's administration has developed a plan to organize an annual conference for the promotion and consumption of longan. Furthermore, it directly connects with enterprises for procurement at the beginning of the longan harvest season. On this occasion, representatives from businesses and cooperatives discussed solutions to boost longan consumption, assessed the advantages and difficulties in production and consumption processes, and proposed measures to enhance production linkage with consumption, building sustainable value chains, thereby contributing to increased income for longan growers. Speaking at the conference, Mr. Nguyen Le Huy, Standing Vice Chairman of the Hung Yen Provincial People's Committee, proposed that Tan Hung Commune continue to leverage its potential and advantages to develop its longan cultivation areas. He emphasized focusing on building and promoting the brand value of Hung Yen longan, concentrating on developing key longan varieties, and accelerating production according to VietGAP standards and safety processes to enhance product quality. The province's various levels and sectors will continue to accompany and support the planning of production areas, infrastructure investment, the application of science and technology, and trade promotion, contributing to market expansion and increased production efficiency. During the conference, a ceremony was held for the signing of longan product consumption contracts between major local cooperatives and gardens and domestic and export longan consumption enterprises.
